So you’re looking at the newest fans of the Melbourne Victory…turns out they were the “home” team in the Derby that we went to last night. With a name like Victory, they can’t lose, right? Well, turns out they can lose…4-1 to be exact.
It was still loads of fun with lots of crazy fans. The Victory only scored one goal, but when they scored, fans went crazy! I’m pretty sure the section that does all the organized chants and cheering lit a fire or flare or something of that nature. All I know was that there was a huge red glow and then several folks were escorted out shortly there after. It’s always good fun to witness some disorderly conduct every now and then.

We got to see an amazing goal scored by Tim Cahill who is an “older” (he’s 36, so I hesitate to use the word older, but you know…) player in his first game as part of the City team. He’s a native Australian, and arguably the best Australian soccer player ever, but this is his first time actually playing in the Australian league. Everyone is saying it is will likely be the best goal scored in the league this year, so it was cool to see in person! He took an amazing shot off a bounce to score the first goal of the game for Melbourne City and they were on a roll after that the rest of the game.
