It’s hard to believe that five years ago, we were leaving for what would become an almost 10-month trek around the world. We left with very little plans in place (and clearly way too much luggage)! I attempted to blog our way through the trip along with keeping family and friends updated through Facebook and Instagram. Admittedly, I fell off the wagon along the way. It’s clear I’m never running any kind of social media empire. I kept writing as we went, but after long days out and about, getting “home” to a job of downloading all the pictures, coming up with clever narrative and insightful blog posts to share really just felt like a whole lot of work! Not to mention that a lot of the places we traveled didn’t exactly have the greatest wifi…shocking, no?

I thought it would be fun to try and go back and fill in some gaps based on where we were this time 5 years ago and add in some of the places that I never posted about. I’m hoping this time around it will feel a lot less like work and a lot more fun to look back and reflect on everything that we did. Sometimes I really can’t wrap my head around the fact that we actually did it. We still reminisce quite a bit about the places we went, the experiences that we had and the amazing people that we met. I’m really thankful Jack was old enough to remember so much of it all!

So bear with me and don’t expect daily posts or anything too ambitious like that, but I’m going to do my best to finish the blog for the trip…expect post-dated blogs because my Type A personality can’t handle things being “out of order”. I’ll also try to fill in some of the behind-the-scenes info on why we did it, how we did it and what we learned along the way. At the very least, hopefully, Jack has something really cool to look back on someday.

More to come…
