A Piece of Home

During the ten days we spent in Sydney, we did a LOT. A lot of walking, a lot of ferry rides and a lot of tourist activities. We walked around The Rocks, walked over the Harbour Bridge, walked from Bondi beach to Bronte, did the Maritime Museum, Australia Museum and the Tonga Zoo to name a few…this is why it’s so hard to find time to actually write a blog sometimes!

However, one of the highlights for us was getting a visit from some friends from home! And when I say “home”, technically they are Aussies, but we met while they were living in the US for a few years. They are back in Canberra now and came to Sydney for the weekend so we could catch up.

It was great having a weekend to just relax and let the kids run around and have a blast. It was like they hadn’t missed a beat! And for Matt and I, it was awesome to have a little bit of a change of pace and have Jack fully entertained by someone else. He hadn’t had a real buddy to play with since we left Daisy in Melbourne, so he was seriously overdue for some kid time! And to be honest, Matt and I were more than a little excited to have some friends around to mix up the usual routine.

We let the kids run around like crazy on the beach, while the adults tried to not get blown away by the wind! We had had a great time enjoying dinner and drinks on our front patio and watching the sunset while the kiddos ran around having a water balloon fight.

Water balloon fight…and they even cleaned up after themselves when it was over!

So glad these guys were able to make the trip to see us…such a special treat!
