National Maritime Museum

The Australian National Maritime Museum was a real sleeper hit with our family. I didn’t think Jack would find it all that interesting, but it ended up being one of his favorite things we did in Sydney. It’s located in Darling Harbour and they have around fifteen different ships docked that you can go onboard and take a look around. They have volunteers stationed on the different boats to tell you more about the history or answer any questions you may have.

They have some exhibitions inside the main building, but with Jack in tow, he was much more interested in checking out the ships! His favorite was the destroyer. The submarine confirmed for me that (1) I am borderline claustrophobic and (2) that (spoiler alert!) my 6 foot 6 inch husband is not built for submarine life. The tall ship was also a favorite because Jack thought it looked a bit like a pirate ship.
