The Detour Diary

One thing that really stood out to me along the Great Ocean Road is that no matter how small the town was where we stayed, they had a SERIOUS playground at the center of town. Our usual routine would be that we’d decide on the town to stay in at the end of the day, then Jack and I would hit the playground while Matt found a hotel and got our bags unloaded. Yes, I am very aware that I got the much better end of that bargain.

Jack has been a great sport rolling with our spontaneous itinerary and being up for all the hikes and walking. He’s actually done a lot better than we expected. However, at the end of the day, he’s still a 7-year-old kid that ultimately gets way more excited about an awesome playground than the seventh scenic stop of the day! So major kudos to the people of the Great Ocean Road for really knowing how to do playgrounds. And almost every single one had a zip line, which was always Jack’s favorite part! And seriously, how awesome is this zip line?!
