Being in Manly Beach meant that the fastest way for us to get into Sydney was to take a ferry. And I would put money on the fact that if you ask Jack what his favorite thing was about Sydney, he would not skip a beat before he shouted out, “The Manly Fast Ferry!”

He wanted to sit at the top every time in the open air, at the very front of the boat. There was generally no issue getting a seat there because the regular local commuters wanted no part of it! The ferry made the trip to Circular Quay in Sydney Harbour in only 18 minutes, so it moved at a pretty good clip, which basically means it was REALLY chilly at the front of the boat!

Sometimes he would even get the added treat of a lemonade from the bar, which made it even more exciting. He loved zipping by the other ferries and would talk about how we were “knocking their socks off” we were so fast. We even got to experience the top of the boat when it was raining once. We basically did it all…wind, sun, rain, cold and even a little thunder once just as we were getting off at our stop!
I’ll never forget the image of him on the ferry; sitting there, hair flying everywhere, leaning forward into the wind while his body was covered from head to toe in goosebumps and grinning from ear to ear!

Great post 🙂
