Kiwi Hospitality

One of the highlights of Auckland for our family was connecting with an old friend. By “old friend”, it happened to be someone that Matt worked with almost 14 years ago (oh and I should also clarify that “old friend” doesn’t mean that she is old…they just go way back)! They hadn’t been in contact much since then, but when she heard we were headed to Auckland, she reached out and said she’d love to meet up.

She and her family were so incredibly welcoming and hospitable! I’d heard amazing things about the Kiwi people and how they will go out of their way for you, but we really got to experience it firsthand. They invited us to dinner at their house one of our first nights in Auckland. She came and picked us up and even had a New Zealand welcome gift waiting for our family. Seriously, who does that? It was such a fun time getting to meet her and her wonderful family. Jack immediately hit it off with their daughter who was just a little older than him. The two were running around like they’d known each other their whole lives.

By the time we left their house after dinner, the kids were already asking when we were going to get together again! We told them we had a feeling we’d definitely be catching up a few more times before we left New Zealand!
